As the costs of doing business in California continues to increase, Northern Nevada’s proximity to both Interstate 80 & Highway 50 along with the low tax base made Nevada a perfect area for the company to relocate to. Miles Construction was able to help secure tax incentives and financing. We include this type of service to our clients making Miles Construction a one stop shop.
This new facility provides twice the square footage of all their former buildings combined. Not having to transfer materials or transport materials from one facility to the other greatly increased efficiency and productivity.
Special Challenges
One of the biggest challenges associated with the project was coordinating the completion of the new building with the decommissioning of the old structures in California. Due to various reasons the old structures needed to be vacated and the furnaces up and running before the new building and the industrial subdivision was completed. Another unique challenge was powering the furnaces before the new subdivision was scheduled to be energized. The furnaces needed to run 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Throughout the temporary power process full time supervision was needed to maintain the power source assuring the product in the furnaces didn’t solidify.
Utilizing a Pre-Engineered Steel building we were able to maximize the building foot print while maintaining a cost effective budget. Architectural requirements were met by using 28’ Precast Concrete Panels at the entry and office space. 8’ Precast Panels were used around the building perimeter to serve as a durable wainscot and further enhance the architectural look of the building.
